E-CAMP: Hiking Skills
September 21, 2018 @ 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
E-CAMP is our program exclusively for students in grades 6-8! We go on outdoor adventures, develop outdoor skills and spend time getting to know ourselves and friends a little bit better. E-CAMP runs in the summer, fall and spring and each section incorporates various activities aimed at giving students positive experiences in the natural world, building a community and working on personal development.
This fall, E-CAMP students will spend two days gaining outdoor skills that will be put to the test during a night hike at the ELC property. Each day of E-CAMP (other than the night hike on November 9) runs from 8:30am to 3:30pm and is $15 per child. The night hike will run from 5-10pm on Friday, November 9 and will cost $20 per child. Drop off and pick up for all events will take place at our East Drake site, though we will be taking off-site field trips for some programs (see below). You can register individually for each fall program, but we highly encourage students to sign up for every program date, as this will encourage community-building and group-bonding.
Registration for E-CAMP will open at 8 am on August 24, 2018. Click here to register.
We have full and partial scholarships available for E-CAMP. Please contact us at (970) 491-1661 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in a scholarship.
Friday, September 21: Hiking Skills
We will visit a local hiking area (TBD) where we will practice using maps, compasses and GPS while hiking several miles. Along the way, we will observe and identify wild animals and practice Leave No Trace principles. Then you’ll work with your peers to complete a series of challenges using your new skills.
